New Year

I've been thinking about resolutions that I would like to make this year. I have a few that are related to school, some related to work, and some related to my weight loss journey. But before I get there, I want to recap on a few things.

Two years ago I decided to make a New Years resolution to give up diet soda. I have done just that. I have not had diet soda in over 2 years. It has been difficult at times, but I feel better not drinking it because I drink more water. I still crave it, but I don't want to make a compromise and have one here and there because I was addicted. I couldn't go without it.

One year ago I weighed 224 pounds. Today I weight 167.6 pounds. In one year I have lost over 50 pounds through watching what I eat and exercising. What will this year bring with my weight loss journey? I'm nearing the end of my journey, but it's really only the start because I will then have to learn how to maintain my weight loss. I am not really sure what my goal weight is. I know I want to lose a little bit more, but I'm not sure. This is the lowest I have ever weighed that I can recall. I keep looking at pictures of myself and CANNOT believe the difference. I looked at pictures when I weighed about 256 pounds to now at 167.6 pounds. The scale is not the only difference that I have experienced. I am more confident, I feel more comfortable with who I am, and I know that I am going to do this once and for all. I am going to lose the rest of the weight that I want to. I am NOT going to weigh what I weighed before. This will be a life long journey, but I am going to learn to maintain my weight. I know things in my life will change, and I may gain weight back at some point, but hopefully it's for a good reason, not because my eating is out of control. I look forward to eating "normally".

I want to run a 5k this year. I just haven't found one that fits my CRAZY schedule. I also want to make it to the gym AT LEAST 3 times a week. Once it warms up I will be able to get outside and run, but the sidewalks covered in snow make me a little nervous. I did get some awesome Cold Gear Compression leggings that I want to try out ASAP!

My last semester of graduate school starts very soon. I am taking 4 classes. The nice part though is I will only have 3 classes the first 8 weeks, and 3 for the second half of the semester. My resolution is to finish this semester with a 4.0. I have a 4.0 right now, but I have a tough class ahead of me. My resolution is not to procrastinate. Tomorrow night I am going to start a project that is not due until later in the semester. I wish my one professor would post the syllabus so I could see what was coming up for that class. I don't want to be stressed out this semester. I want to be focused. It will be tough working 31-36 hours a week plus interning, but I have to do it. I know if I continue to exercise it will help the stress level.

Here's to a new year! More changes for the better!
